Hiya guys! I'm working on a new project and really could use a little help. I have a site that I'm building, with a mix of html, css, java script and wanting a flash menu, with a "pop up" effect for hover over and active links, where the box that's active is taller than the rest, without misaligning at the bottom. I thought I'd ask here as I know that a lot of you are familiar with this sort of thing and was wondering what your thoughts were on it. I was planning on implementing the menu with the following on (release) { getURL("new.html",_self); } my main issue is - how do I even go about making the menu (the flash builders I've tried are pretty useless) and can I wrap the html around the flash in a seamless way without needing to use frames or tables? I've not used flash in quite a while and was just wondering what the best way to do this was. Can I create a menu class in the css and insert my flash in there without having to wrap it in a div class? Thanks! |

Why not make the whole menu using Flash's Actionscript 3 and then embed it in the HTML as an .swf object? To do that, simply make your menu in Flash (graphically) and assign Button Objects to each of your buttons. You may/may want to create an animated button with a Movie Clip if you want for someone hovering/pressing it down - just make a movie clip instance and assign it to the correct state of the button in the object editor. Then simply write the Actionscript 3 to do something on press etc. This may/may not work for you as I am unsure what you want to do with it 
You may be able to do everything you want with basic Javascript (on mousclick etc commands) and HTML frames. |

so i tried sending you a private message but it wouldnt let me...i have a little experience with flash and think i might know the type of menu your wanting and can give you some help if you still need it...i just did a flash menu on a site so if you wonna check it out its only a 3 button one but i can help you make it more it was with a easy flash generator...the link is www.brawleyfights.com and if you go about 3/4 of the way down you will see 3 buttons that say fighter app ring girl app and cage rental. I know it looks like its just buttons but it is a menu and i made the background black to match the rest of the page so it looks like they are floating. They can also be made smaller different colors different pics and more buttons. Like i said dont know if that is close to what your looking at or not but if it is I would be happy to give you a little help on it |

I've built my menu now (used Flash menu factory) but now I need a separate editor to put the links in as FMF don't let you link the buttons in the demo version
jsinnett, might I ask how you put the menu on your site (its great btw!) did you embed it in the css or did you place it in a < div> in the html portion of the site? My menu bar will need to be static in the same place on each page, even though the backgrounds will be changing? This site is VERY heavy graphics wise so the more I can put into css the better as my html will need to be super-formatted to properly display the text -_- Jacob, I didn't want a fully flash site- they bug me -_- yeah they look fancy, but I REALLY don't like the idea of having to edit the whole file each time and prefer html to fine tune
