Hey guys, Im asking this cuz Im curious. I have a problem and I want to see if any of you have ever had this problem or know any1 who has, or has a solution or ideas for a solution! 1: My computer has worked fine for awhile, however last night it was updating and had to restart, it restarted and then it was loading the OS (Windows XP SP2) then, once it got to the Loading Windows XP screen, it loaded and flashed a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) and then it just restarts. I have turned it off and tried to restart it again and again, it keeps doing this. I have hit F8 at loading and I have used: Debug Mode Safe Mode Last Known Good Configuration Safe Mode w/ Networking Safe Mode w/ Command Prompt and still, none of these solve it. My thoughts: It sounds like a RAM problem, however, it came with a 512MB stick of ram in it, and I added 2GB of RAM, so I would have to take the 512MB out. 2: It cannot be a harddrive problem, this hard drive has worked in another computer before. 3: This is the 2nd time this has happened. The first time I did something foolish and replaced all the .dlls on it with the .dlls from my laptop, I figured that was the problem so I reformatted. Now it is doing it again, so any ideas? |

Sometimes it can be caused by newly installed software such as drivers that malfunction causing the BSOD. Did you recently install any new software like that? Or did you possibly install new hardware that isnt compatible with your os? The last thing i can think of is your computer overheating. Make sure the hardware and heat sinks are not cluttered with dust. Check the processor temperature under Hardware Monitor or PC’s Health Status sections in the BIOS. Worst case scenario is that you will have to update the BIOS, which you would have to order based on your motherboard. These are just the ideas i thought of, im sure theres plenty more if you google causes of the blue screen of death. |

chevybow Idk.. Shudnt be? Maybe new hardware. But its not the comp overheating. Idk how to fix it. The BSOD I saw, it shows for like 1/2 of a second, I cant see what it says at all. TBH It doesnt look like a regular BSOD, it looks a lil different. My bro is good with computers and the problem even stumps HIM! He is amazing actually. He has alot of experience and he has been working on computers since he was 12. He is now 28. But thing is, im trying to fix it. |

Well you can always hope for the best and restart it one day and it might start working again. Did you try bringing it to geeksquad or staples? Maybe they could possibly take a look at it? I dont really know if they offer services like that tho
i know they do stuff with computers lol. But unless you have really important stuff on your computer or you love it to death and spent lots of money on it, time to get a new computer?
