A backlink is basically where you leave your website link into other relatable websites, blogs, articles, forums etcc. You should find website that are revelant to your thing and do follow websites meaning that the site allow for indexing of that backlink. The more relevant backlinks you have the more search engine like google will think that your site is good and youll start rasing in ranks until eventually you reach the first page of say google. Some ways to get backlinks are to: Ask a website owner if you can add your web link to their and maybe return the favor. In forums you can add your ref link to your signature and profile website. In blogs/articles you can leave comments. Make an article with your ref link. Always try to be relatable when in forums,articles and blogs because you dont want your post seem like spam and be removed by the owner. Also if you can try creating your ref link as a hyperlink under your best keyword so like for a site made for free xbox live you would have "free xbox live" hyperlinked with your website about free xbox live in the forum, articles,website or blog.
