iphone, blackberry, android phone, Those are the ones I'd suggest. personally iPhone, because the touch screen and system is the strongest. I have a 3GS and it's 1 or 2years old but it owns 4s

I have an htc wildfire S and LOVE it! the touch screen is great, and it does just about everything that the iphone does - but there are a thousand times more free apps (including p2s
) and you can expand the memory with a micro sd card so you're not limited to the built in nand storage.
You can use the htc as a tether as well, allowing your pc to access your mobile phone network while the phone is connected to the pc via usb cable - great for using the internet if you're out and about but there's no wifi zone nearby
it works the other way too, so you can hook your phone into your house wifi and stream live movies and music etc, the apps are amazing and the speed is perfect
7 customizable homescreens with apps, widgets and speed dials, voice recognition, built in gps as standard and maps service all pre-installed
Mine is £15 pm on tesco, with 250 minutes, 500mb data (never using as I use the wifi) and 5000 texts per month. No signal problems ever and for a small network, they're fantastic!
