It turns the mic that connects into 3.5mm jacks which are the regular audio jacks into 2.5mm jacks which are on some cell phones and xbox controllers. I got it specifically for the xbox controller though and it works great with the mic, it picks up my voice really clearly and after just wrapping around the back of the controller, I can play and talk at the same time with others or chat. Plus, whenever they respond, their voice comes out of the TV audio so I don't even need the earphones like a headset, all I need is this wire with my mic and thats it Hope this helped to anyone wondering if it works or not!
